Tony C. Banks, President & CEO

As President and CEO, Tony Banks leads the overall vision and strategy for Star Energy Partners. Star Energy empowers its customers to make smart energy choices through its innovative consumer tools and world-class customer service.

In his more than 30-plus years in the energy industry, Tony has established himself as an authority in the competitive retail energy market and is a sought after advisor on energy policy nationwide.

Through his work at Star Energy, which he founded in 2012, Tony is able to put this knowledge and passion of industry to use by supplying energy and energy-related products and services at competitive rates to individuals in the Ohio market. Soon, he hopes to grow his mission of empowering Americans to make the best energy choices possible in states throughout the Midwest and Northeast.

Prior to founding Star Energy, Tony spent eight years in executive positions at FirstEnergy Corp., the most recent of which was as the Vice President of Competitive Market Policies at FirstEnergy Solutions. He has also worked as a consultant in the energy markets, served as the President of Atlas America and held various leadership roles within Dominion Resources (previously Consolidated Natural Gas Company). He currently serves on the board of Atlas Pipeline Partners L.P.

In addition to being a leader in the utilities and retail energy space, Tony is also a leader in his community, having served on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Reserve, Akron Urban League, New Orleans Police Athletic League, and is the past chair of the Dorothy O. Jackson Society of the United Way.

Joseph Cepparulo, Director Energy Operations

As Director of Energy Operations, Joseph Cepparulo leads the retail operations as they pertain to pricing, supply procurement and strategic analysis for Star Energy Partners. Since the company’s founding in 2012, Joseph has negotiated with suppliers, evaluated market entrance and developed pricing options to ensure that Star Energy customers are getting the most competitive rates possible.

Prior to joining Star Energy, Joseph served as Vice President of Glacial Energy where he was solely responsible for the development of the company’s natural gas business. Joseph’s experience in the energy industry includes the development of a gas supply plan while serving as a Director of Gas Supply and Operations at MxEnergy.

With his extensive industry knowledge and expertise, Joseph is able to deliver Star Energy customers the best fixed-rate energy solutions on gas and electricity, providing them price protection against volatile variable rates.
